HOME: A LENS ON ISRAEL, Bernard Museum, Temple Emanuel, NYC

Exhibited at the Bernard Museum at Temple Emanuel, NYC 2018.

Seven photographers traveled to Israel under the auspices of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (“The Joint”).Because of the unique relationship between the state of Israel and The Joint, we were afforded tremendous access to places that were not the usual tourists stops. The point of the exhibition was to share visually our experiences, to showcase the population diversity of Israel. Most Americans know only of Israel’s conflicts and wars. Our group came away with a deeper knowledge and understanding of the simple life of those who call Israel home. We learned a great deal about the state’sand the Joint’s support of many of the many vulnerable communities, particularly the elderly, handicapped, youth at risk, and work training programs.
The images from the exhibition were donated by the artist to the archive of the JDC.
